Bridgestone® Brand Blizzak® Tire Is Presenting Sponsor Of RMAP's "Best Vehicles Of The Rockies" Awards 2005

DENVER, Colo. (March 8, 2005) – The Bridgestone® brand Blizzak® tire has been named the Presenting Sponsor for the “Best Vehicles of the Rockies” Awards as presented by the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press (RMAP) group. The RMAP awards presentation will be a highlight event held in conjunction with the Denver Auto Show on March 30-April 3, 2005.

“With its unique and frequently risky driving conditions, the Rocky Mountains pose endless challenges when it comes to winter driving. We know firsthand that the Bridgestone Blizzak is a dependable performer in such conditions, and thus a perfect fit to join our group as the presenting sponsor for awards that celebrate the ability to successfully conquer these driving challenges,” said Vince Bodiford, president, RMAP.

Since 1999, members of RMAP, an organization of professional automotive journalists who live and drive in the diverse Rocky Mountain region, have selected and presented the “Best Vehicles of the Rockies” Awards. Vehicles in the Rocky Mountain region are typically subject to harsh winter conditions, snow and ice driving, mountain roads, high altitudes, and unpaved and off-highway operation. New vehicles are judged as “best” based on a number of performance characteristics determined as vital to safe and dependable driving in “the inclement weather and often questionable road conditions of the Rocky Mountain area,” according to Bodiford.

“We’re thrilled to have the Bridgestone Blizzak Tires serve as presenting sponsor for these awards,” said Phil Pacsi, executive director, North American consumer tire brand marketing, Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT). “The Bridgestone Blizzak winter tire leads the industry in providing improved winter driving performance. We are excited to bring its great reputation to the RMAP’s award program.”

Bridgestone Blizzak tires have been a success story since the tires’ introduction in 1988. In addition to recently celebrating the manufacture of its 100-millionth Blizzak tire, Bridgestone has also just announced a number of new sizes to satisfy the continuing popularity of the tire line.

“The RMAP Best Vehicles of the Rockies Awards will help consumers sort out leaders in different categories, and will help the driving public make better informed decisions regarding their daily driver for the Rocky Mountain region,” Bodiford added.

Nashville-based Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC, is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc., whose parent company, Bridgestone Corporation, is the world’s largest tire and rubber company.
