Bridgestone Firestone Customers Race To Savings

Nashville, Tenn. (May 12 , 2005) - Though most people will not share in the purse for winning this year’s Indy 500—more than $10 million heavy—Bridgestone Firestone customers will find their own wallets a bit heavier this race season.

To celebrate 88 Indy 500 races and 55 wins on Firestone tires, Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) launches a new summer campaign during the same month of the historic Indianapolis 500 Mile race that will help customers race to savings.

Starting May 12 and lasting until June 4, the Race to Savings, 88-55 Rebate promotion offers an $88 rebate on four Firehawk Wide Oval tires and a $55 rebate on four Firehawk Indy 500 tires. In addition, the popular Firestone Affinity LH30 with UNI-T and Firestone Destination LE with UNI-T will be on sale during the promotion.

“We are proud that our Firestone tires have produced more Indy 500 winners than all other tire manufacturers combined,” said Phil Pacsi, executive director of consumer tire marketing, BFNT. “Bridgestone Firestone was inspired by its technology developed and tested for racing tires to make higher-performing and longer-lasting tires for you and your family. The skill we use in delivering consistently high quality racing tires has also helped us develop passenger tires with consistent, high quality features.”

The promotion will be supported by television commercials, print advertising, credit card statement stuffers, local retailer user newspaper ads, direct mail flyers, radio scripts and point of purchase displays.

The Firestone Wide Oval helped revolutionize high-performance passenger tires in the 1960s with design features based on Firestone’s advanced Indy 500 race-tire technology. The new generation carries on that tradition of ultra-high performance and is engineered to give motorists world-class handling, performance and durability on any surface.

The Firehawk Indy 500 features UNI-T® technology and is “S and T” speed rated. It carries the Firehawk Indy 500 name, offering a sidewall appearance similar to the race tires used on every Indy Racing League car competing in this year’s Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. The sidewalls also bear the famous Indianapolis 500 wing and wheel logo.

Nashville-based Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc., whose parent company, Bridgestone Corporation, is the world’s largest tire and rubber company. BFNT develops, manufactures and markets Bridgestone, Firestone, and associate and private brand tires. The company is focused on wholesale and original equipment markets, supplying passenger, light truck, commercial vehicle, off-road, motorcycle, agricultural and other tires to its customers in North America.
