Guy Clark To Perform At “River Notes,” A Benefit For Cumberland River Compact And River NetworksBridgestone Americas teams with Lightning 100 to sponsor intimate show; proceeds to aid local watershed and others impacted by Hurricane Katrina

Nashville, Tenn. (Sept. 12, 2005) - Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. (BSAH) is teaming up with Nashville’s environmental group Team Green and its partner radio station Lightning 100 to sponsor and produce “River Notes,” a night of music with Guy Clark to benefit the Cumberland River Compact and the River Network. The Greenhouse Bar in Green Hills will host this special performance on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.

Tickets, which cost $45 each and include dinner, are now available exclusively at http://www.wrlt.com. Fifty percent of the proceeds of River Notes will go to the River Network, which will distribute funds to the watershed groups most in need of relief and restoration due to Hurricane Katrina. The other 50 percent will benefit our local watershed group, the Cumberland River Compact, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the water quality of the Cumberland River and its tributaries through education and by promoting cooperation among citizens, businesses and agencies in Kentucky and Tennessee.

A native Texan and Nashville local, Guy Clark has devoted his life to crafting melodies and lyrics that have earned him the deserved title of “Songbuilder.” Clark’s focus on songwriting began in the ’60s when he, Townes Van Zandt and Jerry Jeff Walker were part of the burgeoning Texas music scene. Most of Clark’s songwriting takes place in the basement of his Nashville home, in the workshop where he also builds guitars.

“We are thrilled to team up with Lightning 100 to produce this benefit with such an incredible musician,” said Tim Bent, director, environmental affairs, BSAH. “This will be a very special performance that benefits the great environmental cause that is the Cumberland River Compact.”

“The Cumberland River is important to each and every one of us here in Middle Tennessee as well as across the region, so we needed to create an event that could benefit and honor our river as well as help others in need in the wake of Hurricane Katrina,” said Laurel Creech, Team Green director, Lightning 100 air talent and co-producer of the event. “Joining forces with the Cumberland River Compact, River Network and Bridgestone Americas is the perfect partnership to a successful event, and Guy Clark’s participation is icing on the cake.”
