Bridgestone Firestone Launches Fall ‘Need New Tires’ Campaign‘Dueler-Ruler’ Sales Aid Returns to Assist Dealers With Proper Tire Selection

Nashville, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2005) - Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) has launched the fall phase of its “Need New Tires, One Hundred Dollar Tire Sale.”

The campaign, which will be held Sept. 15-Oct. 15, 2005, offers four Firestone® FR380 Radial tires size P155/80R13 for $100 OR up to a $100 mail-in rebate offer with the purchase of select Bridgestone® Dueler™ tires. Included are the company’s most popular Dueler radial tires: the Bridgestone Dueler H/P, Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza, Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo, Bridgestone Dueler A/T, Bridgestone Dueler M/T and the new Bridgestone Dueler H/T.

“Our plan in offering a choice of advanced technology Dueler lines is to expand our customer base for Bridgestone brand tires, “said Phil Pacsi, executive director, North American Consumer Tire Marketing, BFNT.

A sales kit has been distributed to authorized Bridgestone and Firestone retailers to promote the sale. Included is the re-issue of the popular Dueler™-Ruler, a “slide rule” merchandising aid to assist retailers in gauging proper light truck and SUV tire fitments, and recommending the proper Dueler tire to match a customer’s driving style and needs.

The Dueler Ruler is simple to use. The retailer locates the customer's current tire size on the gauge which cross-references to the available Bridgestone® Dueler™ tire to meet the application: high performance; on-highway; on/off highway; and off-road. Features and benefits of each Dueler tire line, as well as warranty information, are included on the merchandising tool.

Bridgestone Dueler tires feature exclusive UNI-T® technologies for a long life and comfortable ride.

UNI-T is an acronym for Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technology. It features three core elements: CO·CS®, a Computer Optimized Component System which allows design and manufacturing processes to work more cooperatively, leading to a more efficient tire that doesn't sacrifice one area of performance for improvements in another; O-Bead®, a more round structure that minimizes overlapped joints in the bead area for improved ride; and L.L. Carbon® (Long Link Carbon) which helps the rubber compound resist microscopic tread tearing related to wear.
