Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund Sponsors “Eyes On Design” Event For Fifth Consecutive Year

Nashville, Tenn. (June 13, 2006) - The Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund will again sponsor the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology’s (DIO) annual “Eyes on Design” fundraising event to benefit the DIO in assisting and educating the blind and visually impaired.

“The Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund is proud to continue its association with ‘Eyes on Design’ as a gold level sponsor for the fifth consecutive year,” said Christine Karbowiak, chair of the Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund. “The DIO really makes a difference in the lives of so many blind and visually impaired citizens. It’s very gratifying to again team-up with this remarkable organization for such a worthy cause.”

“Eyes on Design” is recognized as one of the largest and most complete vehicle displays assembled each year, attracting automotive designers, automotive decision-makers and consumers from around the world. Historically, the exhibit has showcased more than 200 vehicles, including Indy 500 speedsters, stock cars, Formula One racers and hot rods.

The 19th annual event will be held June 18 on the grounds of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.

The Michigan-based DIO was founded in 1972 by business people and local ophthalmologists to provide the support and tools necessary to enhance independence for the visually impaired and blind; develop career opportunities in the allied health field that will provide better trained, caring ophthalmic technicians; and help provide answers to baffling problems related to the eye and vision through research. For more information or tickets to any of the DIO events, call the DIO at (313) 824-EYES (3937) or visit www.eyeson.org.
