DETROIT, Mich. (August 7, 2006) - The country’s finest classic cars will have to share the spotlight during the 12th annual Woodward Dream Cruise on August 19. Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) in partnership with ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV Channel 7 are hosting a city-wide casting call for Detroit’s next big singing sensation, during the second annual “Cruisin’ Idol” contest.

Michigan residents, 18 years or older, who believe they are the next great undiscovered talent can send a sample of themselves performing a classic cruisin’ song to WXYZ-TV. The top four cruisin’ crooners selected will do a live performance during the station’s Woodward Dream Cruise program special, Saturday, Aug. 19 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on WXYZ-TV Channel 7. A panel of judges, featuring legendary 104.3 WOMC-FM morning personality Dick Purtan, WXYZ’s own Joanne Purtan and two BFNT representatives, will choose the 2006 Cruisin’ Idol.
