FREE JUMP AT THE PUMP to do your P.A.R.T.Firestone Complete Auto Care Celebrates National Tire Safety Week

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (April 23, 2007) – What P.A.R.T. of your vehicle most often goes unchecked? Your tires! During National Tire Safety Week, April 22-28, 2007, the Rubber Manufacturers Association and Firestone Complete Auto Care™ encourage you to pay attention to your P.A.R.T.—Pressure, Alignment, Rotation and Tread. By checking each tire’s pressure and tread once a month and regularly rotating and aligning your vehicle’s tires, you will not only keep yourself safe on the road, but also make your vehicle more fuel efficient.

A well-maintained vehicle is the best defense against rising gas prices. Firestone Complete Auto Care offers GET A FREE JUMP AT THE PUMP, a free fuel savings check to ensure your vehicle is operating efficiently, no appointment necessary. Drivers can bring vehicles to local Firestone Complete Auto Care locations for free tire inflation, tread inspection, air filter inspection and alignment check.

How do these four components make a difference?

  • Tire Inflation — By maintaining properly inflated tires, drivers may see a 10 percent improvement in fuel economy.
Without it, they risk wasting a mile or two per gallon.

  • Tread Inspection — Uneven or worn tread can reduce a vehicle’s grip on the road, which makes its engine work harder to get to its destination. These factors can contribute to poor fuel economy.

  • Air Filter Inspection — A clean air filter by itself can improve mileage as much as 10 percent. If an engine does not get enough air, it burns more gasoline than necessary.

  • Alignment Inspection — Poor alignment causes tires to wear out faster and results in poor handling. By aligning your tires, drivers can improve fuel efficiency by 10 percent.

Though National Tire Safety Week only comes once a year, Firestone Complete Auto Care and the Rubber Manufacturers Association strongly recommends all drivers take five minutes every month and before road trips to check all four tires, as well as the spare! Each of us has to a P.A.R.T. to do in promoting vehicle safety.
