Five Firestone Complete Auto Care™ Locations Named Arizona Green BusinessesState environmental certification program recognizes Firestone Complete Auto Care store locations as “Green Shops”

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (Sept. 25, 2008) — According to the Automotive Service Association (ASA) of Arizona, customers of five Tucson, Ariz., Firestone Complete Auto Care store locations can be confident they are receiving environmentally sensitive automotive service. The store locations were certified as “green shops” through the ASA’s voluntary Green Business Automotive Program, administered in conjunction with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).

The ASA classifies an automotive service provider as a green shop if it meets qualifications in two major areas: pollution prevention and resource conservation. According to the ASA program guidelines, green shops have “found reasonable and cost-effective ways to protect our environment and conserve resources. These facilities go beyond the government environmental regulations all automotive repair facilities must meet.”

“The store locations acknowledged by the ASA deserve recognition for this achievement,” said John Sheerin, Environmental Director for BFS Retail & Commercial Operations, LLC, the parent company of Firestone Complete Auto Care. “The commitment to improving the environment they demonstrate each day is important not only to their customers, but to each person in the community.”

Auto shops must accumulate at least 300 points on a scorecard created by ADEQ’s Pollution Prevention Program in categories such as cleaning and degreasing, energy conservation and waste reduction. The specific criteria include using low-hazard solvents, recycling fluids including oil, using energy-efficient lighting and other green office equipment, reducing paper use and conserving water.

The Firestone Complete Auto Care locations recognized as Arizona Green Shops are:
