Firestone Industrial Products Facility Operates 2 Million Man-Hours Without Lost-Time AccidentDyersburg, Tenn. facility celebrates safety milestone

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (July 30, 2009) Reaching another safety milestone, the Firestone Industrial Products (FSIP) facility in Dyersburg, Tenn., marked 2 million man-hours without a lost-time accident today.

“At FSIP, safety is a top priority,” said Mike Cerio, President of FSIP, a subsidiary of Firestone Diversified Products, LLC (FSDP). “This is a huge milestone for our Dyersburg plant. The plant has set the bar high when it comes to workplace safety.”

The 2 million man-hour accomplishment is one of many safety-related accolades earned by Dyersburg facility teammates. In March 2008, the Dyersburg facility received Volunteer Protection Program (VPP) status from the Tennessee Occupational Safety & Health Administration (TOSHA) — the organization’s highest honor. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development also recognized the facility with a Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 for completing at least 300,000 man-hours without a lost-time accident in each of those years.

“Day in and day out, Dyersburg teammates go the extra mile. Not only do our teammates produce high-quality products, they do so while ensuring the highest level of safety for one another,” said Mike Kroeger, Dyersburg Plant Manager, FSIP.

The Dyersburg facility, which employs 90 teammates, produces metal components and cured rubber products for use in air springs. The facility’s last lost-time accident occurred in April 2003.
