Consumers Encouraged to Support Meals On Wheels Association of America

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (Nov. 18, 2009) — In anticipation of the upcoming holiday season, Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC (BSRO) will ask customers in its retail stores to donate to Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), the oldest and largest national organization providing meals to seniors in need. Between Nov. 20 and Nov. 25, team members in more than 2,100 company-owned Firestone Complete Auto Care™, Tires Plus™ and ExpertTire™ stores nationwide will ask customers to make a donation of $1 or more to MOWAA.

“This is the perfect time to give our customers an opportunity to participate in our support of MOWAA,” said Victoria Condell, Director of Public Affairs, BSRO. “By educating and engaging our customers while they are in our stores, we hope to build awareness of senior hunger, and to motivate them to join the effort to drive away senior hunger.”

The promotion comes on the heels of the recent partnering between MOWAA and BSRO. The partnership focuses on increasing awareness, funding and volunteers for MOWAA.

“While most people spend the holidays enjoying a hot meal with their loved ones, that is not the case for many of the homebound,” said Enid Borden, President and CEO of MOWAA. “BSRO understands that our seniors are in need not only of a nutritious meal, but also of a friendly visit, especially at this time of year.”
