NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 27, 2013) – Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (Bridgestone Americas) today announced that Tim Bent, Director of Environmental Affairs, spoke at the New Metrics of Sustainable Business Conference 2013 this week. Bent, who directs the design, development and execution of organizational strategies related to environmental performance and communications for the company, presented “Sustainability Metrics Hub -- Preparing for the push and pull of corporate sustainability.”

Mr. Bent discussed the development of Bridgestone Americas’ Metrics Hub to gather relevant internal and external data and house it in a central location, ensuring efficiency, quality data and access across the enterprise. Developed in conjunction with sustainability expert and consultant Jeff Gowdy, the Bridgestone Metrics Hub organizes more than 500 unique sustainability metrics from twelve leading sustainability reporting-related programs, initiatives, protocols and indices. Several examples include: Global Reporting Initiative, Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and Carbon Disclosure Project. The metrics organized in the Hub will help in delivering more timely responses to customer sustainability surveys.

“Bridgestone Americas is working hard to deliver on its commitment, as the leading tire and rubber company in the world, to help ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations,” said Bent. “It is always an honor to share the podium with other leading brands with a similar focus on sustainability.”

The Sustainable Brands conference is a two-day, in-depth discussion with some of sustainability's top minds designed to examine leading-edge work that is expanding the way business creates, quantifies and manages the value it delivers through the metrics it adopts.
