Bridgestone Commercial Solutions Launches New R244 Rib-Type All-Position Steer Radial TireTire designed for severe service and on-highway applications
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 2, 2014) – Today, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions announced the launch of the Bridgestone R244 All-Position Steer Radial Tire. The new tire meets the demands of dump trucks and concrete mixer truck fleets which spend a higher percentage of their miles in on-highway use. Designed with a wide base ribbed steer pattern, the tire performs well both on- and off-highway without sacrificing the traction needed on rougher roads.
“Most dump and concrete trucks spend more time on interstate highways where irregular wear and ride are more important, than off-highway construction sites,” says Bert Jones, Manager, Product Marketing, TBR, Retread and OTR, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions. “Many of our customers, especially in the southwest, expressed an interest in a tire that offered longer wear, a smoother on-highway ride and that performed well on sandy sites. The R244 was designed for them.”
Additional features of the Bridgestone R244 include:
- Rib-type pattern to help deliver a smoother ride; wide base design allows vehicle to haul more
- Special tread compounds to provide resistance to irregular wear, extending life and reducing cost per mile
- Sidewall protector ribs to protect the casing from curbing damage, plus cuts and abrasions. If one side wears away, simply flip the tire over for continued protection.
