Bridgestone Donates $10,000 to Daly Point Nature ReserveGift to help fund much needed improvements to green space

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 13, 2014) – Bridgestone Americas today announced plans to support Daly Point Nature Reserve in its efforts to transform its site into a more usable green space that will attract local, regional and national visitors each year. Located in New Brunswick, Canada, Daly Point Nature Reserve will receive a $10,000 (USD) gift as recognition of the reserve and the surrounding community’s environmental commitment.

Bridgestone learned about Daly Point Nature Reserve through the company’s Fuel the Cause contest, which was held online in April. While the nature reserve did not claim first place in the contest, Bridgestone was impressed by the community’s innovative plans for the green space and elected to award Daly Point Nature Reserve a $10,000 gift for environmental activities. Daly Point Nature Reserve plans to use the funding to build an extension to its Welcome Center and add picnic shelters and benches for visitors to use.

“As the world’s largest tire and rubber company, we are committed to building a better environmental future — for our customers, our employees and the communities in which we operate,” said Erik Seidel, Vice President of Brand Management, Bridgestone Americas. “We believe that it is only by working together as One Team, One Planet that we will achieve this goal. It is our privilege to support the Daly Point Nature Reserve and the surrounding community that is working hard to preserve and protect their beloved green space.”

Bridgestone conducted the Fuel the Cause contest as part of its annual Rethink Green campaign in April. Rethink Green highlights the Bridgestone Ecopia line of tires, which delivers low rolling resistance and improved fuel efficiency, as well as the company’s breadth of Eco-Products. Ecopia is Bridgestone’s most fuel-efficient line of tires that is engineered to save consumers money every time they drive. The Eco-Product designation is used to identify Bridgestone products that feature environmentally-conscious materials, such as low-aromatic oil and recycled materials, and also are designed to help improve vehicle fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
