Public Voting Underway in Bridgestone Neighborhood Transformation ContestCompany to grant funds for community project with most votes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 9, 2015) – Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) today announced public voting is underway to determine the winner of the company’s Fuel the Cause neighborhood transformation contest. The community project with the most votes will receive a US$25,000 grand prize donation from Bridgestone.

Designed to foster positive change in local communities, the Fuel the Cause contest seeks to identify educational, environmental, safety and other community-based initiatives that would benefit from a transformation funded by Bridgestone. In February, Bridgestone accepted nominations from consumers across the U.S. and Canada, and a panel of judges identified the top 12 community projects as contest finalists. It is now up to the voting public to determine the grand prize winner.

To vote, the public can visit the Bridgestone Fuel the Cause contest online portal. Consumers can vote for their favorite community project finalist once each day between now and April 30. The project that receives the highest number of votes will win a US$25,000 grand prize donation. First and second place winners will receive US$15,000 and US$10,000 respectively. All 12 finalist projects will receive at least a US$2,500 donation. Bridgestone will announce the Fuel the Cause contest winners in early May.

“As an active corporate citizen, Bridgestone is making a positive and lasting impact in the communities in which we live, work and have operations – through Fuel the Cause and many other ongoing programs,” said Erik Seidel, vice president of brand marketing, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. “All of our finalists are game changers in their local communities, and we are excited to spotlight their important work and help support their efforts through this fun and engaging consumer contest.”

Bridgestone, the world’s largest tire and rubber manufacturer, is committed to a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program that focuses on three main areas: business, environment and people. The Fuel the Cause contest links the company’s three CSR categories and nurtures sustainable growth in the local communities in which Bridgestone has operations.
