NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 8, 2015) – Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) today announced that the company is the recipient of seven awards from the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) Safety and Health Improvement Program (SHIP) for safety performance of plants operated by Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. During the RMA’s annual meeting in April, Bridgestone captured two Excellence Awards and five Improvement Awards rewarding the company’s demonstrated commitment to worker health and safety.

“At Bridgestone, we are committed to nurturing and supporting a workplace that ensures continuous safety improvement and contributes to the health and safety of our teammates and our communities,” said William Holden, Director of Safety and Industrial Hygiene at Bridgestone Americas. “We are proud to be recognized by the Rubber Manufacturers Association for the continued hard work and focus of our teammates in ensuring a safe workplace.”

Bridgestone received Excellence Awards for its Long Beach, California, and Griffin, Georgia, plants for achieving a Days Away Restricted Transfer (DART) rate that is 75 percent better than the average achieved by plants that provide data to the RMA. The company captured Improvement Awards for its Bloomington, Illinois; Des Moines, Iowa; Graniteville, South Carolina; LaVergne, Tennessee; and Morrison, Tennessee, plants for achieving a DART rate that is both 10 percent better than its rate in the previous year and the same or better than the RMA average incidence rate.
