NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 8, 2015) – Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) recently showcased its industry-leading innovations in sustainable manufacturing at the 2015 National Zero Waste Business Conference in Los Angeles. The event gathered experts from a range of industries to share ideas, tools and best practices in creating value for business through zero waste. Diane Scher, Bridgestone Manager of Environmental Affairs, shared details about the company’s sustainability efforts and the critical components of a successful zero waste program as part of a panel presentation featuring other business leaders in environmental sustainability.

“Collaborating and sharing ideas with other business leaders through events like this benefits not only Bridgestone, but more importantly, it encourages continued commitment to environmental sustainability practices,” said Scher. “Bridgestone has many innovative national and global sustainability efforts underway, and we are honored to be included in the conversation and to share our lessons learned.”

Scher participated in a panel discussion titled “Pieces of Zero: Critical components for a successful zero waste program,” during which she discussed numerous Bridgestone sustainability efforts, including the company’s Tires4ward tire recycling program and zero waste to landfill achievements at various Bridgestone tire manufacturing facilities in the Americas. The company’s Wilson, North Carolina passenger and light truck tire manufacturing plant, LaVergne, Tennessee truck and bus tire plant, and passenger and light truck tire plant in Aiken, South Carolina have all achieved zero waste to landfill. The Americas Technical Center, the hub for innovation at Bridgestone, reached zero waste to landfill in May 2014.

The National Zero Waste Business Conference is hosted annually by the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council with the goal of helping companies identify waste reduction methods, collaborate with others in the industry and ultimately achieve zero waste to landfill.
